Thomas Litchfield Marriage? Find a copy of the marriage record to Margaret Haslam to verify this is the correct family.  Before I order a copy of this marriage record, I need to check FHL fiche 6900044 which contains extractions of the marriages performed in Alfreton during the years 1813-1894.[5]

I checked  FHL fiche 6900044 for the marriage information on Thomas Litchfield to Margaret Haslam.  This Thomas was the son of Charles Litchfield not Godfrey so it is not the right Thomas.  New.Familysearch.org information needs to be corrected since it shows Maragaret married to our Thomas instead of Thomas who is the son of Charles.

I believe the actual marriage record can be found on FHL British Film # 0497371 item 1.

I thought I had made a copy of this marriage certificate but now that I am home, I do not seem to have it.

·        Thomas was still unmarried in 1861 at the age of 32.

So far, it looks like Thomas did not marry but I have not found a death record for him yet.  Nor have I been able to trace him further than the 1861 Census.

Thomas Litchfield Death?  I found two death records for a Thomas Litchfield.  One was for a death in 1883.  This one is probably incorrect since his death age was given as 79 but really he would have been about 57.  The second record gives his death in June 1864 in Belper.[6]  This one could be correct.  I found him listed on the 1861 census.  I need to do more research with the census to see if I can find him after this date and request this death record to see if any additional information will help identify if this is the correct date.  Another thing to consider is in the “Godfrey Litchfield” history from Glenda Wright the notes under Thomas state “Was Thomas living in his Uncle James’ lands at Chevinside near Belper when James died in 1873?”[7]  This notation should be followed up as well.  Perhaps there is a will from his uncle James that will shed some light on the subject.
